22nd October 2024, I am welcomed with a beautiful gust of wind and a bright sun right over me as I exit the Singapore Changi Airport with a wide grin on my face. Now, Singapore is different from a lot of places I have travelled to, especially when compared to India…..it's cleaner, brighter, lighter. I had to adjust my breathing just because the air was so clean, but enough about how planned and well-maintained the city is, let’s talk about the experiences.
Taking a taxi, which, by the way, is so easy to find and hire…it's unbelievable especially when coming from a place where my Uber is constantly cancelled. We took our ride straight to Sentosa. The southern island of Singapore is simply breathtaking, from bustling beaches to calming mountains. It’s THE place to take a vacation, and the best way to experience this paradise of a place is to, of course, stay in a beachfront property. As expected, there are many here, but my two favourites have turned out to be The Palawan Resort at Palawan Beach and Shangri-la Rasa at Siloso Beach, we chose Shangri-la Rasa, and we weren’t disappointed.
A beautiful beachfront property with both hill and sea-facing rooms situated right next to the Silso Fort, the resort is filled with activities, restaurants and wildlife! The resort feels like it has come to life itself!

The Shangri-La Rasa has a lot to offer when it comes to food, and oh my god, the food is impeccable. From freshly caught crab to a perfectly medium rare ribeye steak to authentic Asian cuisine. The outlets make you realise why Singapore is called Little Asia. Silos Beach Bar and The Bubble Bar serve cocktails that are to die for and enhance the already fun-filled evening experiences like movie screenings on the beach, water polo in the pool, and the miniature water park, which unfortunately is only for kids while the adults enjoy their drinks at the bar.
Casserole is the first of its kind in Singapore…. a meat-free restaurant. Now Casserole is special, being an all-vegetarian outlet in a place surrounded by the freshest seafood one can get on this planet, even offering vegan options, but hands down, my favourite experience was at Shang Palace, devouring that succulent spiced crab served with those sweet and bouncy mantou buns and a whole rib-eye steak grilled to perfection to a tender medium rare sourced straight from Australia served with fluffy mash.

With so much to do at the resort, it was hard to leave. The spa treatments, activities and just the relaxed vibe of the properties were very enticing, especially after the jet lag, but we mustered up the energy to step out and found out the best thing about Sentosa….its size! Sentosa is small; the entire coastline can be walked in less than 2 hours. So we walked with the refreshing sea breeze hitting our faces and the sun on top of us, we explored the Imbiah trail along the hills in Sentosa, the Madame Tussaud’s Museum and all the fun-filled activities like the skyline luge, go-karting at HyperDrive and walking along the beautiful beaches at night reaching the southernmost point in Asia and watching the most beautiful sunsets I have seen since my trip to Finland.

As my time at the Shangri-La Rasa Resort and exploring Sentosa Island comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on the incredible experiences that have filled my days here. From indulging in exquisite culinary delights to embracing the thrill of adventure at every turn, Singapore has truly captivated my heart. The vibrant atmosphere, combined with the serene beauty of the beaches and hills, has created lasting memories that I will cherish forever. Yet, as I prepare to leave this slice of paradise, I can't help but feel that my journey in Singapore is far from over. The allure of the city-state beckons me to return, to uncover more hidden gems, and to continue my adventures in this remarkable destination.
To be continued...
